Making a store

Grade1 students have been planning to make their own store this week.
First, they needed to think what kind of store they want to have.
Second, they were thinking what they want to sell at the store.
It was a great chance to review some words about vegetable, fruits, flowers etc.

Week 28

Dear Grade 1 parents,

This week we have been working very hard for International Children's Day. Students have been making some choices and brainstorming how they would like to help our environment.

We have been collecting any plastic packaging so we can investigate ways to reduce, reuse, recycle.

If you have any materials at home please bring them in for the students to use. Students may inquire as to how their own family is helping recycle waste at home. Please talk to your children about this so they can share it in class.

Kind regards,
Sara Matthews

Making Mottainai poster

This week, Grade1 students have started making a poster for International Children's Day.
It is related to the classroom inquiry about recycling materials.
Mottainai is a Japanese term conveying a sense of regret concerning waste.
This expression can be uttered alone as an exclamation when something useful, such as food or time, is wasted. It means "What a waste!" or "Don't waste!"
Students really liked the sound of this expression and learned what people are wasting in daily life.
